Aha! Thats the one. I remember the character, World, with the third eye on her forehead, was my favorite for some reason and became my online alias for a while.
This was one of the arcade machines that was for some reason in the lounge area, at some college i went to band camp at several times.

Oh wow. I've never played it on a cabinet, just ports and through Arcade Archives. It's lots of fun, even if I'm no good at it.
